I have been fortunate enough to create several websites during my short time as a web designer. Below you will see a taste of what I have created and the process and thought behind each site.
Each site has it’s own set of constraints a pre-requisites to fulfil and each one so far has acted as a great learning curve for me. Scroll down to see the sites I have worked on and the experience I had.
My first website, created a few years ago, was for my employer. This gave me a significant advantage: a deep understanding of the content. However, I later realized that this could also present challenges
I learned that having a strong grasp of the business I was designing for significantly improved my website creations. This realisation, gained from my initial project, allowed me to focus on other design aspects and taught me valuable lessons about attention to detail for future projects.
For Business Finance Services, I was tasked with creating an online marketing presence. In an industry traditionally reliant on face-to-face networking, digital marketing was a new approach for the IFA. Additionally, marketing a business that specializes in personal and business protection presented unique challenges, as these are topics many people prefer to avoid discussing. I had to carefully balance providing enough information to attract potential clients without offering so much that our services would become unnecessary.
The client needed a website to:
When I’m not producing sites for clients, I try and make time to work on my own site. The name is something my Dad came up with and includes the first two letters of mine and my brother’s names. Again a logo was required, I liked the idea of using the first letter to create the shape of the logo while using the negative space to hold the company name.
My site is designed to be fluid and I edit it as I hone my skills. Because of this I need to make sure it runs fast despite a large amount of design elements. I also need to be mindful of not losing some content as I make changes, this leads to some rigorous testing and trialing different tools to help the site run smoother.
Greenfields Wood Store was my first e-commerce site. I had to overhaul a site that had been running for several years. This included making the site as efficient as possible for customers to view.
The challenge lay in the number of products and a large amount of variations. customers needed to be able to see as many of these without the need to travel from product page to product page.
Last year, the clients sold the business and tasked me with a full digital transfer. I identified the areas of the business that needed to be swapped and ensured that the new owners had access to the digital assets moved to themselves and transferred payment details and passwords. At the end of the process, I had both parties satisfied that their interests had been looked after and both parties were secure that all digital assets had been swapped.
Atelier T&B is a site in progress for a new Architerctural firm. While the site is being designed, I have created a splash page to allow the site to be visible to Google while I work.
I have also migrated their emails from Google Workspace to Office 365 ensuring no loss of data and set up their new Office 365 account to ensure they have full access to the tools included.
